Luxury Formalwear Designer
MFU Meister (Technological Heritage)
Chairman, Japan Formalwear Culture Association
Representative, Atelier ROSSO NERO
MUNETAKA YOKOYAMA represents the second generation of a bespoke sewing factory established in 1963, specializing in high-end tailor-made suits and formalwear. The factory has been trusted by leading department stores and luxury hotels in Japan for over six decades.
In 2008, he expanded into Tokyo’s fashion hub, Minami Aoyama, and opened Atelier ROSSO NERO, a luxury formalwear atelier that is now recognized as Japan's premier formalwear brand. His creations, crafted with meticulous attention to detail in collaboration with skilled artisans, are highly regarded by celebrities, show business elites, and top-tier clients across Japan and beyond. In 2018, he founded the Japan Formalwear Culture Association to preserve and advance both his brand and traditional Japanese culture and industries. As chairman of the board, he is committed to sustainability, creating formalwear using kimono fabrics and upcycling techniques to reduce environmental impact.
MUNETAKA YOKOYAMA actively participates in international exhibitions and events, showcasing Japan’s unique blend of tradition and innovation to a global audience. He aims to bring Japan's traditional culture and craftsmanship to the global stage, establishing a new standard for sustainable luxury formalwear.
